Heavy Equipment Service Tech
Department: Service Dept.
Reports to: Service Manager
Job Purpose/Performance Outputs:
Performs assembly, repair and testing of heavy equipment including mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems as well as transmissions to required specifications of customers, vendors and company standards.
Essential Functions Performed:

- Assemble components per drawings and supplied standards
- Troubleshoots, repairs, rebuild and tests various related equipment
- Attends training sessions required for vendor updates and new products
- Responsible for following & working to required safety & housekeeping rules, guidelines, policies
- Maintains shop equipment and tools in proper working order, including equipment PM schedules
- Maintains required work records of repairs, rebuild and testing
- Maintains sensitivity to CRM

- Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and diesel aptitude and knowledge, capable of a wide range of troubleshooting, testing and rebuilding of engines transmissions and heavy equipment
- Blue Print reading capability
- Knowledge of material handling equipment, including fork lifts, hand lifts, and overhead cranes
- Knowledge of welding and metal cutting operations and equipment
- Knowledge of equipment instrumentation and gages and testing processes
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of required safety and housekeeping rules, guidelines and policies
- Technical Translation of mechanical product & repair documents & customer, vendor specifications
- Communication skills, verbal and listening and phone skills
Job Prerequisites (needed upon job entry)
Minimum Education Level, Type, Certification:
High School Diploma and Vocational School Graduation
Specific Experience - Amount and Type
- 3 -5 years experience in mechanical repair of heavy equipment or diesel engines
Job Conditions/Requirements - Hours, Travel, Physical, Tools, etc.:
- Must have own set of complete mechanical hand tools including 3/4" drive and air tools
- Machine shop work environment with heavy equipment hazards
- Normal day hours of work with occasional overtime, weekends and may work a night shift
- Must have a valid drivers' license
- Some travel may be required
