Job Title: Service Mechanic - Trainee

Job Purpose/Performance Outputs:
Learn and develop trouble-shooting, repair, rebuild and testing skills and knowledge of mechanical equipment. Provide machine shop work assistance in areas of housekeeping, material handling, record keeping and preventative maintenance of equipment
Essential Functions Performed (Other functions/tasks may be required besides those listed):
- Provides less complex troubleshoots, repairs, rebuild and testing of various mechanical equipment
- Assists department technicians in repairs, rebuilds and testing of mechanical equipment
- Attends training sessions required for vendor updates and new products
- Responsible for following & working to required safety & housekeeping rules, guidelines, policies
- Assists in maintaining shop equipment and tools in proper working order, including equipment PM schedules
- Maintains required work records of repairs, rebuild and testing
- Maintains sensitivity to CRM
- Learns company products, work processes and procedures and customer / vendor requirements
- Learns increasingly advanced machining equipment operations and process controls, and material handling equipment and procedures
- Learn welding and metal cutting operations and equipment
- Learn company specific equipment instrumentation, gages and testing

- Basic mechanical and hydraulic aptitude and knowledge
- Blue Print reading capability
- Familiarity of machining operations for lathes, drills, boring, and presses
- Knowledge of material handling equipment, including fork lifts, hand lifts, and overhead cranes
- Familiarity of welding and metal cutting operations and equipment
- Familiarity of equipment instrumentation and gages and testing processes
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of required safety and housekeeping rules, guidelines and policies
- PC skills for data entry and machine process controls
- Communication skills, verbal and listening
Job Prerequisites (needed upon job entry) - Position:
Minimum Education Level, Type, Certification:
High School and Vocational School Graduation
Specific Experience - Amount and Type
- 1 to 2 years minimum experience in mechanical repair of automotive and/or diesel engines
Job Conditions/Requirements - Hours, Travel, Physical, Tools, etc.:
- Must have own set of "Beginners" mechanical hand tools
- Machine shop work environment with heavy equipment hazards and hazardous chemicals
- Normal day work hours with occasional overtime and may work a night shift
